MCS' East Side Job
Bank is dedicated to providing services that enable East Side
residents to get and keep jobs. Trained staff helps assess
work-related skills and interests and match them to available jobs.
MCS Employment Specialist helps with the initial contact and
follow-up with job seekers until the right match is found.
Assessing
Job Skills
Testing and assessment are available to determine readiness to
assume a specific position or to help job seekers determine their
skills.
Resume
Building
Assistance is provided to help job seekers assemble the proper
information in the right way to create and update effective resumes.
Job
Retention
At times, barriers exist that make it difficult for someone to keep
a job. Barriers may be lack of transportation, inadequate child
care, lack of appropriate work clothes or personal issues. MCS staff
can link East Side residents to resources that will assist residence
in, accessing resolve issues that may interfere with getting or
keeping a job.

Resource Room
-Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., at Merrick Community
Center
-Computer access for job searching
-Resume building
-Current job postings and job fair information available
-Access to fax and copy machines for sending out resumes or
applications
Certified Nursing
Assistant/Home Health Aide Training
MCS offers four-week Certified
Nursing Assistant training at East Metro OIC, with an additional
week of Home Health Aide Training. Students will also receive
a week of soft skills training provided by MCS that will include
interpersonal communication; interview skills; financial literacy
and business ethics. Following the skills portion of the training,
students will complete an internship with the Living Home Block
Nurse Program.
Upon completion of the training,
graduates will be assisted with securing employment. MCS staff
will maintain contact with the graduates and employers to insure
success.
To qualify for the program potential
students must:
Be 18 years of age or
older
Be unemployed or under-employed
A Resident of St. Paul and/or Ramsey county
Possess
a high school diploma or GED, or actively pursuing your GED
Possess
a valid State of MNDriver’s License and reliable transportation
Interested
individuals must complete an application and be interviewed by MCS
staff.
Environmental
and Construction Workers Training Program
The St. Paul Building & Trades Association
sponsors this 12-week training program for minorities. Upon completion of the
training, the Employment Specialist assists students in finding and keeping
union jobs.
