East Side Job Bank

MCS' East Side Job Bank is dedicated to providing services that enable East Side residents to get and keep jobs. Trained staff help assess work-related skills and interests and match them to available jobs. MCS' Employment Specialist helps with the initial contact and follow-up with job seekers until the right match is found.

Assessing Job Skills
Assist residents with accessing testing and assessments.

Resume Building
Assistance is provided to help job seekers assemble the proper information in the right way to create and update effective resumes.

Job Retention
At times, barriers exist that make it difficult for someone to keep a job. Barriers may be lack of transportation, inadequate child care, lack of appropriate work clothes or personal issues. MCS staff can link East Side residents to resources that will assist residence in, accessing resolve issues that may interfere with getting or keeping a job.
 
Walk-In Resource Room
  • Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., at Merrick Community Center 
  • Computer access for job searching
  • Resume building
  • Current job postings and job fair information available 
  • Access to fax and copy machines for sending out resumes or applications
  • GED classes
 

Environmental and Construction Workers Training Program
